Melly Mel

After growing up with soul, disco, pop and hip-hop on one day he "saw the light" at the IT, Roxy and Paradiso. It didn't take long for him to realise that his passion for music had to be converted into DJ-ing for crowds. He started playing house music and breaks in 1994. After four years of building up experience, a new stream which was taking the English underground scene by storm, started to hit the clubs in Holland as wel. It was in 1998 when he started playing garage/2-step and UK Garage. After making this move, he soon became known as one of the top dj's in the garage-scene. Nowadays he is back to playing the style he has always loved: house music. Melly Mel has been around for quite some years now, and naturally this has determined his style. From a basis of house music, you can hear him play a set that includes all kinds of styles, such as disco, pop, breakbeat, classics. 2-step, urban, broken beats and drum and bass. The importance lies in entertaining the crowd, whether old or young, white or coloured or whatever. As long as it Rocks!
