Bio: Alan Belshaw

I started DJing in 1996, like most, in my bedroom. My first ever gig came about by accident in 1999 and fortunately for me it was to prove instrumental in providing a monthly residency at the famous Arches in Glasgow. Having been a regular clubber at Inside Out at the Arches for at least 2 years, and after passing numerous mix tapes to the promoter Simon Foy, the opportunity arose for me to fill in for a guest whose record box had gone missing. I ended up playing for over 3 hours! From then on, I played regularly every month and was announced as the new resident some months later. It all happened so quickly and I haven't looked back since. Inside Out then Launched an offshoot night called Freefall which focused mainly on the residents and the night was a platform to play longer, peaktime sets. Inside Out has had a cabinet re-shuffle over the last 2 years and although I am no longer resident there, Freefall is still going strong on the second Saturday of every month. My residency at The Arches has given me the opportunity to play on the same stage as some of the biggest names in the DJ world and allowed me to warm up for the likes of Mauro Picotto, Seb Fontaine, Tiesto, Misstress Barbara, Renato Cohen, Valentino Kanzyani and many more. It has also allowed me to play gigs in venues all over Scotland including a stint on the Disco Bus at the T In The Park campsite, as well as El Divino and Coastline in Ibiza, The Gallery at Turnmills, London and also Creamfields, Liverpool as a "Mixmag Future Heroe". I am also one of the residents at Sensu at the Sub Club in Glasgow which focuses mainly on minimal/tech house and techno. Sensu started a few years ago but has come into its own in the last 2 years with bookings such as Trentemoller and DJ TOM, Marc Houle, Troy Pierce, Heartthrob, Mr C, Tobi Neumann, Andre Galluzzi, Dan Curtain and Jay Haze
