Andy Hart is a relatively new talent to the Melbourne electronic music scene, however his appreciation for music began at a young age. His early interest in music varying from funk and disco, to hip-hop and blues, however he eventually developed a passion for house music. As Andy delved deeper into his musical appreciation he discovered the genre of techno and again shifted his musical direction as both a DJ and a producer. Before long, Andy had the opportunity to play alongside local house, techno and progressive stalwarts such as Christian Vance, Luke Chable and Jamie Stevens. These experiences played a vital role in leading Andy to his ultimate goal, that of being able to produce and create music of his own.
Through this success and exposure, Andy was picked up by Melbourne’s techno event brand ‘The Likes Of You’, leading to him playing alongside some of his international idols such as Radio Slave, Carl Craig, Luciano, Robert Babicz, Loco Dice, Deetron and Hernan Cattaneo to name but a few. Andy also gained the opportunity to become resident DJ of Pretty Simple @ Ffour as well as being asked to play guest slots with Soma Corp, Dark Beat and Melbourne Techno Collective. He has also been billed at festivals such as Future Music, Summadayze and Kiss My Grass. These experiences again enabled him to broaden his musical tastes in an overall attempt to begin producing his very own music.
2009 will see Andy's very own creations being heard via differing avenues throughout the year. The production and creation of a live show is well underway and will be a great demonstration of another side of Andy. In association and collaboration with fellow up and coming DJ Myles Mac, an innovative podcast (Melbourne Deepcast) will also be produced and presented through their very own website.
Andy’s overall sound is both diverse and unique, he is open-minded and because of this he is never restrained to one particular genre. That being said, through the way in which he constructs his own music there is a continual theme that extends throughout his production. He combines a fusion of techno and deep house whilst extracting ambient synths, groove inspired chords and layers of percussion whether they be techno or house influenced. Andy seeks to install a deep and emotive vibe to all of his compositions – full of groove, soul and significance. His inimitable layering of songs when djing allows for him to stand out from the large contingent of young DJs that are prevalent within modern-day society. The realms of electronic music and techno in particular are in the safe, youthful and unique hands of individuals such as Andy Hart.
